How to Measure Driveshaft Diagrams for ALL driveshaft types that Do Not have a Center Support Bearing (carrier bearing).

M1-1 (most common sheet used)
1 piece Driveshaft using a New Trans. Slip Yoke and has a Regular Pinion
Yoke.
This is the most common measure sheet used. This is used for cars and trucks if we are supplying a new transmission yoke and complete driveshaft assembly.

1 piece Shaft using YOUR Transmission Yoke and has a Regular Pinion Yoke.
Similar to M1-1. Use this if you are sending us a Trans. Yoke to use. Be sure the yoke fully inserts in to the trans. If it does NOT, put a mark with a Sharpie or Magic Marker where it stops at the trans seal.

M1-3
1 piece Stub/Slip Type shaft with 2 Fixed (bolted on ) Yokes
Use this for where 2 fixed or bolted on conventional end or pinion yokes are used. Mostly truck shafts on front or rear.

1 piece using our New Trans. Yoke and has a Flat Flange at Differential
This is used on cars and trucks with a flat flange at the differential. Ford Mustang, Ford Trucks and late model Dodge Trucks use this type set up.

M1-5
1 piece using YOUR Trans. Yoke and has a Flat flange at Differential
This is the same as the M1-4 but using a customer supplied transmission or transfer case slip yoke.

M1-6
1 piece with Flat Trans. Flange and Regular Pinion Yoke
This uses a stub/slip type driveshaft. This is used on many front driveshaft of 4x4 trucks. Some cars such as early Dodge products with a Ball and Trunion shaft use this.

M1-7
1 piece with a Flat Trans. Flange and a Flat type Pinion Flange.
This uses a stub/slip type driveshaft. This mostly on trucks, either for the front or rear. Some early Dodge products with 2 flanges.

M1-8
Grand Cherokee Front Shaft with UJ type CV at Transfer Case - AWD
This is used for Grand Cherokee only. There are 2 types of shafts used on Grand Cherokee. This diagram is for the UJ type at transfer case and GKN 6 ball enclosed CV at the front differential.

Grand Cherokee with GKN 6 ball enclosed CV at Trans and Differential
Later model Grand Cherokee front driveshafts did not have any U-Joints. They used 6 ball GKN enclosed CV units at both ends.
